The fairy tale “The Goose Girl” is about an imposter. At first, this seems obvious and the tale seems simple enough to comprehend. But this story is really about the soul. There is no way that would be apparent from just reading the story, but this is the power of fairy tales—the resonance created by an allegory. The communication is fast because it awakens the intuition which delights in wisdom. Read the old version of the “Goose Girl” and ponder it for a while. Read it to your young child and see the joy they have in listening. Again, pause a moment or two and consider that there is an intriguing mystery being revealed.
